I have had "clean carpets" on my to-do list for months, since we moved in June. I finally decided to take a few minutes to make some homemade non-toxic carpet freshener. With two little boys and a husband my carpets have seen better days. Somehow they developed this obnoxious smell and have stains all over them.
This all natural carpet cleaner will help loosen stains while freshening your room. If you need a babysitter just give the jar to your kids and let them make a mess. What kid does not like to make a mess? My 3-year-old loves this activity and it occupies him for at least a hour. I just have to refill the jar a few times.
This recipe makes enough for a giant area rug, you can cut in half if needed or store the rest for a later date.
I asked my husband to put some holes in a lid for me. Below is the nice design he made with a hammer and nail - very creative for someone who defies art.
