Today we have a special guest post by Mayan Tran. Mayan is a Feng Shui practitioner, teacher and life-long learner. She helps personal growth enthusiasts clarify and achieve their dreams with intentional designs of their homes. Her website shares inspiration and practical tips for helping others manifest their desires. Mayan has created her own amazing results with the power of visualization, including a free trip to Maui.
I absolutely love this post as it outlines the steps I take to visualize what I want my future to be. I have been using this technique for a few years after reading Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life by Wayne Dyer. It completely changed my thinking and in turn dramatically changed my life.
Right now, I am working on visualizing our family in a place where we are able to live our lives free from consumerism, society pulls, and financial gain. I can see it slowly coming together. I also have a very specific visualization of having a little girl come into our family with brown hair and blue eyes. I visualize her running on the beach in Panama with her long brown hair flowing in the wind. We are done having kids but adopting is definitely on the table. So the way I am manifesting this goal is by visualizing her playing on the beach. I know this may seem crazy but I am telling you it works!
It is time to give Mayan a warm welcome.
Be sure to let her know your thoughts in the comments below this post.
Ever noticed how some people seem to have the best luck?
You know who I am talking about. They are on the career fast track. They are in a passionate, rock-solid relationship. They seem financially set. They so much as mention something they want and doors just seem to open for them without them putting in much effort.
They are living a charmed life.

Meanwhile, you are doing your best: setting goals and working hard towards them. But things are not coming together for you as easily as for them. Do they know something that you do not? Do they have some kind of “power” that you do not have? The good news is that you already have this power.
High performers in all fields do it. Elite athletes (like Michael Phelps and Tiger Woods), actors (like Jim Carrey and Will Smith), and leaders (such as Bill Gates and Oprah)… you name it. (Okay, it is actually not a secret. In fact, it has been well-discussed, such as by the NY Times, Huffington Post and Oprah.)
It may go by different names: mental rehearsal, visualization, manifesting or creative imagery. But the concept is the same – use your senses to visualize your dream as coming true.
Regularly visualizing your dream as being already accomplished can speed up your actual achievement of them. Visualization activates your subconscious mind to think of ways to achieve them. It connects you to the reality of what it takes to accomplish them. And it attracts the people and circumstances to you to make whatever you focus on a reality. By setting an intention and putting in consistent effort in visualizing and taking action, you, too, can create your own charmed life.
Write down your goal to make it concrete and to serve as a reminder of what you want.
Using the promotion example, visualize hearing the news that you got promoted. Are you smiling, laughing or crying happy tears? Are you doing a celebratory dance, joyfully jumping up and down, or motionless from shock? Allow your face and body to react to the news as if it is happening RIGHT NOW. Does your body feel blessed, grateful and amazed that you are in this new position?
Back to the promotion example, have you done all that it takes to get promoted? Are you excelling at your current position? Are you developing the qualities and skills needed to be successful at the new level? Have you taken on more responsibilities beyond what is currently expected of you? Have you shared your desire of being promoted with those who can help, such as your manager or mentor?
One last note: approach your goal from a space of confident expectation rather than desperation. Release any attachment to the exact outcome. Know that whatever happens, God, the Universe or Source is on your side. Just because things don’t happen exactly the way you expect them to, it doesn’t mean spectacular things aren’t already on their way to you.

The Secret to Getting What You Want
It is simple: visualize your future.High performers in all fields do it.
Step 1 - Set a Goal
Get clear on what you want to create in your life. Is it a promotion, a bigger home or more financial wealth? Maybe you would like a new romantic partner or a better relationship with your spouse? Aside from just the physical “thing” you are after, think specifically about how you want to feel in this area. If you want a promotion, are you looking for the excitement of being challenged or pride from using new skills? Or fulfillment from doing something you find meaningful? Maybe it is the feeling of being valued by your clients and colleagues?Write down your goal to make it concrete and to serve as a reminder of what you want.
Step 2 - Visualize the Outcome
Sit comfortably and relax by taking a few deep breaths. Close your eyes and imagine yourself moving forward through space. Visualize yourself as having achieved the outcome. Try to use all of your senses when imagining the situation. Incorporate all of the feelings you identified from Step 1.Using the promotion example, visualize hearing the news that you got promoted.
Step 3 - Take Action
Visualizing without acting is just wishful thinking. In order to get what you want, you have to do everything in your power to achieve the goal.Back to the promotion example, have you done all that it takes to get promoted? Are you excelling at your current position? Are you developing the qualities and skills needed to be successful at the new level? Have you taken on more responsibilities beyond what is currently expected of you? Have you shared your desire of being promoted with those who can help, such as your manager or mentor?
Expecting Miracles
If you are regularly visualizing the outcome and taking action, expect to see miraculous results. Your effort needs to be consistent and balanced, though. Think of visualizing and taking action as opposite ends of a paddle. When you put in equal effort on both ends, you will glide over the water effortlessly. Doing too much of one and not enough of the other will not move you forward as efficiently. You may end up going in circles!
